Task at hand: Create a new logo for Riah Entertainment to use on everything from business cards to uniforms.

How did we get here? When Zach and I were talking about what direction he wanted to take for his brand, he wanted an “R” with a crown on top of it. If you google “R with crown” you will get about 11,000,000 results in under a second, so I started asking more questions to make sure his logo would stand out in the crowd. He told me to mix elegant with high class, but keep it simple and unique, just like his vision for the company. After looking at pages of google results and sketching a page full of ideas, I decided to go with a retro “R” shape, but add a couple unique and modern twists to it such as the curved sharp front leg, and the thick backbone to match while leaving the front and top a little thinner to keep it open and add some space. The crown followed suit with a sharp, minimal feel that also gave a bit of a retro look, but added some depth with the blocked in peaks in the back.

Finding a way to be unique can be a tricky thing, but creative problem solving and communicating with your client will ultimately lead you into something that will separate them from the pack. As simple and minimal as this logo is, it packs a punch and delivers exactly the look and feel that Zach wanted to achieve.
